A Common Mergnaser a w/lots of babies (18?). Cool!
Osprey at the Bridge feeding at least two chicks
There are at least two "swinging chicks" in the East Haddam Swinge Bridge Opsrey nest. I viewed their little heads as Mom was feeding them. It looks like most of the Osprey babies have hatched. We see Mom and/or Dad at the nest feeding them. Many times we see them flying in with a fish. We will go very close to a few nests on each one of our journeys.
We also saw both of the Goodspeed Bald Eagle parents and a glimpse of the two BIG babies in the nest. They should attempt to fly any day now. Hamburg Cove Bald Eagle nest, the parents are still nearby leading us to believe all is well at the nest (can't see the nest easily). We are hoping to see a chick perched in a tree nearby the nest any day now. We will go south past the nest on many of our Sunset Cruises.
Cruises will be in full "summer" swing starting on June 21, including our Summer Solstice Sunset Cruise (Capt Mark's famous Key Lime Pie will be served).
We are looking forward to the summer season and a break in this rainy weather pattern. There are lots of cruises already on the calendar...more in the making! Keep checking!
General Bald Eagle nest update from the DEEP: We have 45 active nests in CT. Two have failed, others are either incubating or brooding.
